Key responsibilities
- Create a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for children and young people.
- Support children and young people with their daily routines and individual care plans.
- Encourage and support children and young people in education, social, and leisure activities.
- Promote independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
- Drive children to school, appointments, and activities, ensuring safe transportation.
- Work collaboratively with external agencies and professionals to achieve the best outcomes.
- Act as a positive role model, promoting self-esteem, resilience, and independence.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and development opportunities.
Skills and experience
- Experience working with children or in a childcare setting is highly desirable.
- At least 1 year of previous experience working with children and young people in a residential setting.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with children, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to follow detailed care plans accurately and sensitively.
- Good IT skills for maintaining records and completing documentation.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting children’s development and wellbeing.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care for Children and Young People (preferred or working towards).
- A full UK driving licence.
- A compassionate and caring nature.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
- Must be located in and eligible to work within the UK.
